About Us
Durham City Velo was formed in March 2015 by a small group of cycling enthusiasts from in and around the city of Durham in Northern England. Since then our membership has grown considerably and now spans a wide range of age, experience and ability.
As a club we focus mainly on social road cycling – although there’s a fair bit of off-road too. These days we have a few members who enjoy competitive cycling, particularly time trials and cyclo-cross, for which reason we’re registered as a club with Cycling Time Trials (CTT) and Northumberland & Durham Cycling Association (NDCA).
Socially, we try to offer TWO club runs on a weekend – Saturday AND Sunday (plus mid-week training when evenings are longer). Sunday rides are a bit easier (40-50 miles at around 14 mph) and are the best option if you’re wondering if club cycling is for you.
We also meet off the bike, usually on the first Monday of the month at the Kingslodge Inn, on Waddington Street in Durham City, DH1 4BG at 7.00 pm.
So, if you enjoy riding your bike and would like to extend your outings to cycling with like-minded folk then get in touch.
